APHC are pleased to announce their support of the new City & Guilds Environmental Technology Qualifications, which have been designed for qualified plumbing, heating and electrical engineers who wish to broaden their skills to meet the new requirements in installation, or installation and maintenance, of environmental technology systems.
The Environmental Technology Awards, the City & Guilds 2399 scheme has been developed under the new Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and meets the new national standard requirements laid down in the Green Deal proposals as well as updates to the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and Competent Persons Schemes (CPS).
John Thompson, Chief Executive, APHC said:
“These new qualifications are an excellent addition to the range of City & Guilds plumbing qualifications. They give the experienced worker a chance to learn about new environmental technologies, and gain a recognised qualification. APHC is pleased to have been involved in developing these exciting new qualifications that help meet the training needs of experienced installers across our industry.”
Matt Lardi, Lead Portfolio Manager, City & Guilds said: “At City & Guilds, we want to enable people to develop their skills for personal and economic growth, and we are delighted that the APHC is supporting our new qualifications. Equipping people with the necessary skills in environmental technologies will be increasingly important as the UK works towards its sustainability targets”.
The content of the qualifications has been designed by SummitSkills in conjunction with other bodies including City & Guilds and APHC. APHC has also carried out work on behalf of City & Guilds to develop assessment materials including exam questions and practical tests for these qualifications. The 2399 scheme qualifications are also an accepted outcome of environmental technology training carried out through the newly established National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies (www.nsaet.org.uk). These qualifications are available through a number of City & Guilds approved centres, for a full listing of those centres in your local area please visit the City & Guilds website (www.cityandguilds.com ) and search for the 2399 scheme, or contact the City & Guilds advice line on 0844 543 0000.
