The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has opened a twelve week consultation on proposals to simplify and clarify how businesses comply with requirements under RIDDOR.
The aim is that this review will make it easier for businesses and other users to understand what they need to do to comply with Health and Safety law, following recommendations made in a recent independent review by Professor Löfsted into Health and Safety legislation.
This review is particularly important for installers as there are proposed changes to the reporting of Gas Incidents.
John Thompson, APHC Chief Executive commented: “It is important that all installers read the consulation document, especially section E, which covers the reporting of gas incidents. I would urge installers to add their feedback and help make changes to a process that many have considered to be too complex and confusing.
The full consultation document is available to download from the HSE website: http://www.hse.gov.uk/consult/condocs/cd243.htm?ebul=consult-riddor&cr=1/2-aug-12 and you can download a copy of the questionnaire by clicking here.
